Having had to deal with this myself I found this to be a very beautifully written story. While nothing can completely show you what Alzheimers is like and the toll it takes on the caretakers this movie does a great job. Having just lost someone 30 days ago to this disease it was a very lovely and beautiful story.

Julie Christie does a stellar performance and I found it to be extremely realistic and tender. I highly recommend people see it of all ages because it creatively but gently protrayed a very serious reality of the experience of aging from both sides in a partnership. Lovely and bitterweet.

Away from Her: one of the best movies I have seen in a long time, beautifully acted, with a poignant unsentimental script and terrific direction. For those of us who are now wataching our parents go from strong and vital to confused and childlike, this is a stunning depiction of how real love--in a real world--can make any allowance for the failure of the physical/mental body of a dear and valiant companion..a must see if you have parents, or any family anywhere--

Beautifully done - both photographically and acting. Language issue is very minimal.
